UFC 95 Predictions
February 21, 2009
Obviously the UFC doesn’t care much for the whole ‘quality over quantity’ idea.
UFC 95 is a reputable card with some interesting fighters, but with little star power and few fights directly impacting their weight divisions current rankings…it kind of sucks. This should be 2-hour Wednesday night fight special on Spike following Anderson Silva’s All Access episode. But for whatever reason it’s an official UFC event, a free one stateside albeit, but an official event nonetheless.
There is little drama here as most of these fights have clear favourites, but an upset is never out of the question in the Octagon.
The Lonely Island - Incredibad
February 16, 2009
Hands down this is the funniest album you’ll hear all year.
The Lonely Island aka the only good thing on SNL for the past four years, have produced a nearly flawless parody rap album with Incredibad that will have you both bobbing your head to the top-notch production and laughing your ass off to the clever, and often ridiculous lyrics. All three members of the group, Andy, Jorme and Akiva, are surprisingly excellent rappers who switch their flows from Dirty South crunk to early 90’s West coast cool, to a decent facsimile of the Beastie Boys. The beats largely provided by Jorme are all great and manage to mimic the styles they are spoofing perfectly.
UFC Fight Night Lauzon vs. Stephens Picks
February 6, 2009
While this weekend’s Fight Night card is not the most exciting batch of bouts ever assembled there are still some fairly decent fighters entering the cage. None of these matchups really mean much as the majority of those fighting are relative newcomers to the UFC, but that being said, a good performance on this free broadcast will go a long way to getting their names on a proper UFC card.
Luigi Fioravanti vs. Anthony Johnson
Fresh off a revenge win over Kevin Burns (who poked him in the eye in their first bout for a ref stoppage), Anthony Johnson is back in action after a month and a half and hoping to keep alive the buzz attached to his name. Fioravanti who last fought in December as well is hoping that a win over Johnson will give him some much needed credit in the welterweight division.
